Introducting a brand new weekly article series on The Kaijudo Channel: Player Rankings! After every KMC weekend, we will update the player rankings based on tournament performance. For now, we will stick with an article series and moving forward, we can potentially transfer the player ranking system to the Rankings page itself.
So, how do these rankings work exactly? They are all based on a point system over the span of the most recent two years of official Kaijudo events (Kaijudo Master Challenges, Last Chance Qualifiers and Championships). The previous year's points decrease as the current year goes by as they slowly become less relevant, whereas the current year's points are unaffected until the next year begins.
After every event, points are awarded to the top players depending on their performance. Here's the point breakdown:
1st: 8 pts
2nd: 7 pts
Top 4: 6 pts
Top 8: 5 pts
On top of this, there is also an event point modifier depending on the event:
KMC/LCQ with less than 16 players: points are halved.
KMC/LCQ with 16 or more players: points remain the same.
Championship event: points are doubled.
Now that you understand how the player rankings work, let's reveal the very first Top 25 Player Rankings for Week 2 of the Fall 2014 season:
